£50,000 Bet Challenge Issued to Derek Chisora Over Misfits Fight Featuring Love Island Star

Derek Chisora has been challenged to a significant £50,000 wager regarding the upcoming Misfits Boxing bout between Ty Mitchell and Idris Virgo.

Mitchell, who is a close friend of Tyson Fury (a former opponent of Chisora`s), is set to face Idris Virgo, known for his appearance on the reality show “Love Island,” this Friday in Derby.

Interestingly, both Chisora and professional boxer Virgo train together at the London Shootfighters gym in North West London.

In a video message, Chisora, aged 41, expressed confidence in his training partner, stating:

“Ty Mitchell, my boy`s going to smoke you out. He`s going to smoke you out. My guy`s going to smoke you out. Let`s go champ! Let`s go champ!”

Mitchell, 34, quickly responded to Chisora`s prediction:

“My old boy, Derek. Listen, you don`t believe that, man. You know you don`t believe it. Listen, if you believe he`s going to beat me, put a wager on it then. Ten grand, 20 grand, 30 grand, 50 grand? You let me know what you want to bet if you think your boy is going to beat me. I know you`ve got a lot of money because you made a lot when my boy Tyson spanked you. So listen, let`s see if you really think he`s going to beat me. Name the price and I`ll match it.”

The two fighters later shared a seemingly friendly FaceTime call, smiling. Mitchell subsequently posted online:

“Don`t let Insta fool you he`s a marketing genius.”

Mitchell began his professional boxing career in 2010, achieving a record of 3 wins and 2 losses before he was imprisoned for manslaughter. He was sentenced to seven years behind bars for fatally punching 19-year-old student Jagdip Randhawa in 2011.

Denied a professional licence by the British Boxing Board of Control, Mitchell instead competed on the unlicensed boxing circuit. Last year, he signed with Misfits, the promotion known for celebrity crossover events founded by KSI, and won his debut fight against Tommy Hench.

Idris Virgo, on the other hand, had a professional record of 12 bouts with one draw before also joining Misfits following his participation in “Love Island” in 2018. He has secured four victories under the Misfits banner, defeating notable figures like MMA star Anthony Taylor, “Geordie Shore`s” Aaron Chalmers, and former UFC champion Benson Henderson.

Virgo, who recently celebrated the birth of his first child, a son, revealed he turned down an opportunity to return to “Love Island” to focus on the fight with Mitchell.

He stated in an interview:

“I could have taken the chance to risk going on the show and come out for this fight. But it`s too much, so I thought I`d kick it to the can. Oh, it is 100 per cent a tough decision because Love Island`s my root, that`s the reason why I`m standing here today. I got what I have because of Love Island, so it would have been good to go back on there, build my career, X, Y, Z, but sometimes you gotta take sacrifices and that`s one of my sacrifices. I had to kick the can and train hard ready for this fight.”
