The Professional Fighters League (PFL) has announced its return to France, scheduling an event for September 26 in Nantes. The fight card will be topped by local star Abdoul Abdouraguimov, although his opponent is yet to be confirmed by the promotion.
This marks the PFL`s first event in France since a planned show in Paris on May 26 was canceled. It was the second time the organization had to call off an event scheduled for the French capital.
The Nantes card will also serve as the stage for the semifinals of the PFL Europe lightweight and bantamweight tournaments. Fighters who emerge victorious from these bouts will secure their spots in the PFL Europe finals, set to take place in Lyon on December 13, where they will compete for a grand prize of $100,000.
Known by his moniker “Lazy King,” Abdouraguimov was born in Dagestan but calls Nantes home. He has achieved three consecutive wins under the PFL Europe banner since 2023. His most recent victory came in December 2024 at an event in Décines-Charpieu, France, where he defeated UFC veteran Laureano Staropoli by decision in the main event.
In a statement released by the promotion, Abdouraguimov expressed his excitement:
PFL is coming home. After 21 professional fights, I can finally fight in front of my home crowd, where I grew up and learned this sport. And now, it’s at the Zenith Nantes Metropole that I’m going to do the next Lazy Show. Grab a seat, some popcorn, and be good, but not too much, because I’m here to entertain you on September 26, let’s go!
Abdouraguimov is currently riding a nine-fight winning streak. This impressive run includes swift title victories during his time with Ares FC against veteran fighters Godofredo Pepey and Karl Amoussou. Prior to joining PFL, he held championships in two weight classes, welterweight and middleweight, within the Ares FC promotion.
