During the weigh-ins leading up to the UFC 317 fight week events in Las Vegas, a moment involving surging bantamweight prospect Raul Rosas Jr. drew significant attention when he accidentally struck a fan in attendance.
Raul Rosas Jr., the promising 20-year-old bantamweight fighter known as `El Niño Problema`, has been actively participating in International Fight Week activities. He`s currently on an impressive run, having secured four consecutive victories since suffering his first professional defeat, including a win over Vince Morales in March which positioned him for potentially bigger fights ahead.
While showcasing his skills for fans and cameras gathered around him at the weigh-ins, Rosas Jr. began demonstrating his hand speed.
During this demonstration, he threw a short left hook that inadvertently connected with a fan standing close by, causing the fan`s glasses to fall off.
The incident quickly circulated on social media platforms, prompting a range of reactions from fans who found amusement in the situation and the reactions of both Rosas Jr. and the fan who was struck.
`Naw he just laughed at the fan.`
`Bro almost caught a lawsuit in 4k.`
`Good thing he’s not known for his power.`
`I would sue and just settle that he’s never to say “chee wee wee” publicly again.`
`Clear lawsuit.`
`No effect! lol.`
Raul Rosas Jr.`s Path to a Potential Title Shot
Looking towards his next steps, Raul Rosas Jr. is reportedly aiming for a return bout, possibly at Noche UFC, and has suggested that his next opponent could be a fighter ranked in the top 15.
Appearing on The Ariel Helwani Show recently, Rosas Jr. shared his timeline for reaching the pinnacle of his division. He indicated his belief that he is potentially only three fights away from earning an opportunity to challenge for the UFC Bantamweight Championship.
He was quoted saying, “I don’t think I’m too far away, especially if this fight that I’ve told you about goes through and I’m able to go out there and beat the guy. That’s like two more fights inside the top 15 and I feel like that would earn me a title shot… I’m looking at it as four fights just in case but for sure, I would love three.”
Should Rosas Jr.`s career path unfold according to his ambitious projection, he could potentially make a run at breaking Jon Jones` record as the youngest champion in the history of the UFC.
