Andrei Arlovski has reclaimed his status as a world heavyweight champion, and another dominant figure in the BKFC ranks, Parker Porter, has set his sights on “The Pitbull.” Porter, a former UFC heavyweight, recently secured an impressive victory over Haze Wilson at the BKFC Mohegan Sun event on March 28th, marking a rapid ascent in his bare-knuckle boxing career.
Similarly, Arlovski achieved championship status quickly, securing the title within just two fights. Porter was present at BKFC KnuckleMania VI in Philadelphia, witnessing firsthand Andrei Arlovski dethrone Ben Rothwell to claim the coveted championship belt. Porter shared his thoughts on Arlovski’s performance:
“I believe he was absolutely dominant, delivering one of his best performances in a long time,” Porter remarked. “He appeared significantly better than he did in his debut against Josh Copeland. While Ben [Rothwell] might not have been at his peak, which certainly benefited Arlovski, Andrei himself looked incredibly sharp, explosive, and fast.”
“Given his vast experience and resources, you can expect someone like him to excel regardless of his chosen path, whether it’s BKFC, MMA, or anything else. The man possesses an incredible wealth of knowledge, experience, and achievements. My sincere hope is to have the opportunity to fight him.”
“Firstly, it would be an immense honor. Secondly, I desire that belt no matter who holds it. However, facing Arlovski for the championship would truly be a dream come true for me. So, if he defends it against someone else before I get my shot, I genuinely hope he retains it.”
A “Predestined” Showdown: Arlovski and Porter’s History of Almost Meeting
For Parker Porter, a fight with Andrei Arlovski transcends the championship belt. Porter admitted to sensing a deeper connection, almost a destiny, regarding a potential clash with the veteran fighter, regardless of Arlovski’s current BKFC champion status. He revealed that their paths nearly crossed on multiple occasions during his UFC tenure, even before Arlovski also retired from the UFC. Now, with Arlovski in BKFC and holding the title, Porter feels their eventual confrontation for the championship is “predestined.”
“Absolutely,” Porter affirmed. “We nearly faced each other once or twice during my time under contract with the UFC, even before his UFC retirement. The fact that he’s now in BKFC, he’s the champion, and I’m focused on securing that belt—it truly feels like our paths are predestined to intersect. I eagerly anticipate that moment being a title fight.”
The BKFC heavyweight division appears to be thriving, continually expanding with rising knockout artists like Leonardo Perdomo and former world champion Mick Terrill, who recently clinched the BKFC UK heavyweight title. As a ranked contender within this weight class, Porter shared his perspective on the current robust state of the BKFC heavyweight ranks:
“Yes, it seems we’re attracting a lot more incredibly talented individuals, and the momentum is certainly building,” Porter noted. “I was previously asked if I thought BKFC was more tailored towards older fighters, like myself, rather than younger, emerging talents. I believe that due to BKFC’s surging popularity and the increasing frequency of their events, we’re now seeing younger athletes actively pursuing careers within the organization.”
“Prior to this growth, I think it was such a nascent sport that primarily those with existing experience in other combat sports were willing to ‘try it out.’ With this shift, I anticipate an even greater influx of highly skilled heavyweights joining the ranks.”
