Bryce Mitchell achieved his 10th Octagon win at UFC Vegas 118, defeating the previously undefeated Santiago Luna.
The fight began with both competitors exchanging early strikes. However, less than a minute into the first round, Mitchell secured a takedown near the fence and immediately transitioned to side control. Although Mitchell’s offensive output on the ground was limited, he maintained control for nearly four minutes, securing the round on the scorecards.
Mitchell continued a similar strategy in the second round, closing the distance to attempt an early takedown. Despite this, Luna ended up in top position before disengaging and forcing Mitchell back to his feet. This allowed Mitchell to execute his own takedown and remain in side control for the remainder of the round.
The third round saw Luna have his most significant moment, gaining top control and attempting an anaconda choke, though he was unable to finalize the submission. Mitchell managed to reverse the position, advance to full mount, and begin working for an arm triangle choke. With less than 10 seconds left in the fight, Mitchell forced Luna to tap out, marking the first loss of Luna’s mixed martial arts career.
Official Result: Bryce Mitchell def. Santiago Luna via submission (arm triangle) at 4:52 of Round 3.
