Kaia Gerber and Homer Gere Celebrate Vogue September Issue Cover at Casa Magazines

Newly minted September cover stars Kaia Gerber and Homer Gere acknowledged their good fortune, stating there was "not a moment where we didn't have immense gratitude that we got to be on the cover of Vogue." Gerber expressed this sentiment enthusiastically while signing copies of the issue on Tuesday afternoon.

Gere, her co-star on both the magazine cover and the new Ryan Murphy series The Shards, heartily agreed. "It's something I didn't even think was possible—it's completely insane," he said with a smile. "And to get to do it with Kaia, who's a close friend of mine, is really fun. She held my hand through it; she's a pro."

The duo was situated in a back corner of Casa Magazines, a well-known newsstand and print hub in the West Village. By 3 p.m., a considerable line had formed outside the shop, with readers eager to have their copies autographed by the pair.

Gerber revealed this was their first time witnessing the public's reaction to the cover. "I honestly haven't been online," she admitted. "Homer's really not online either. So I didn't know what people were saying. But the people in my life have been very excited about it. As a model, it was amazing to get to work with Steven [Meisel] and bring it all to life. The main feedback has been how fun and nostalgic it is."

Considering their notable parentage—Gerber is the daughter of Cindy Crawford and Gere is the son of Richard Gere—parental feedback was particularly significant. "My mom was like, ‘This is completely wasted on you’ as she was a model. Meanwhile, I had no concept of this," Gere quipped. "My dad loved the article. He said, ‘Usually profiles don’t capture people very well, but I feel like this is you.’"

The sentiment was mutual. "I feel like Rob [Haskell] captured our essence, which is the hardest thing to do with a written interview," Gerber praised, finding the headline ‘Just Kids’ particularly fitting. Gere added, "I love the Patti Smith and Robert Mapplethorpe reference," to which Gerber interjected, "Sometimes I say Homer reminds me of Robert Mapplethorpe."

The queue extended around the block, passing an artisanal paleta stand. The impressive gathering of fans, even to the grounded duo who grew up in the public eye, was noted. "We really are just kids," Gerber emphasized as they stepped outside to greet their fans.
