David Haye Reveals Major Career Change to Acting

Boxing icon David Haye is embarking on a new career in acting following his first film role. The 44-year-old former heavyweight world champion features in `Under The Gun,` a short crime film set to premiere next month.

David Haye, who retired from boxing in 2018, has long wanted to pursue an acting career.

Commenting on his move to acting, Haye stated, “Working under the direction of Charles Belleville and filming alongside the fantastic cast and crew was an honor. Acting, similar to boxing, demands discipline – it requires dedication and preparation to succeed.”

He added, “I hope audiences respond to my acting with the same enthusiasm they showed for my boxing career. I`m grateful to my acting mentor and producer, Alex Fidelski, for this chance, and I commend BUFF for providing a platform for our film.”

`Under The Gun` will be screened at the British Urban Film Festival on June 25. Haye appears in the film alongside Kevin McNally, known for his roles in `The Crown` and `Pirates of the Caribbean`.

According to the festival`s website description, the film delves “Deep into London`s criminal underbelly, where two detectives participate in a poker game with unimaginable stakes.”

Discussing his acting goals back in 2016, Haye commented, “When I retire in a couple of years, I aspire to be an actor. I aim to achieve the same level of success in acting as I did in boxing, though I know that`s a big challenge and I`ll need to start from the beginning.”

He also stated, “I`ve always had a passion for film and believe I possess the potential to be a capable actor. I`m inspired by individuals like Will Smith, who transitioned from music, or Dwayne Johnson, who came from wrestling – they`ve achieved remarkable success by truly mastering their craft. I seek genuine recognition as a skilled actor, not just minor appearances.”

David Haye is currently in a long-term relationship with model Sian Osborne. The couple has previously been noted for including other individuals, such as singer Una Healy from The Saturdays, in their relationship.
