Idris Virgo vs Ty Mitchell: Misfits 21 Light Heavyweight Title Fight

Idris Virgo is set to face Ty Mitchell in the co-main event at Misfits 21 this weekend in Derby.

This marks Virgo`s first fight of 2025. His previous bout was a unanimous decision victory over Benson Henderson at Misfits 18 last September.

The 31-year-old former Love Island contestant boasts an impressive near-perfect professional record of 12-0-1.

His only non-win was a fight against Rene Molik in May 2019, which ended when doctors stopped the bout due to a cut over Molik`s eye, rendering him unable to continue.

Ty Mitchell enters the fight with a professional record of 3-2-0. He is coming off a third-round knockout win against Thomas Harnett at Misfits 20.

Mitchell will also have the advantage of fighting in his hometown of Derby.

Heavyweight veteran Derek Chisora, who trains with Virgo, sent a message to Mitchell predicting Virgo would `smoke him out`. Mitchell responded by challenging Chisora to back up his words with a £50,000 bet on the fight`s outcome.

Virgo revealed he turned down a return to the reality show Love Island to focus on this fight. He told The Sun:

`I got what I have because of Love Island, so it would have been good to go back on there, build my career, X, Y, Z, but sometimes you gotta take sacrifices and that`s one of my sacrifices.

I had to kick the can and train hard ready for this fight.`

This bout serves as the co-main event for Misfits 21, with Darren Till vs. Darren Stewart headlining the card.

Quotes Ahead of the Fight

In a video message, Derek Chisora stated:

`Ty Mitchell, my boy`s going to smoke you out. He`s going to smoke you out. My guy`s going to smoke you out.

Let`s go champ! Let`s go champ!`

Mitchell, 34, replied:

`My old boy, Derek. Listen, you don`t believe that, man. You know you don`t believe it.

Listen, if you believe he`s going to beat me, put a wager on it then. Ten grand, 20 grand, 30 grand, 50 grand?

You let me know what you want to bet if you think your boy is going to beat me.

I know you`ve got a lot of money because you made a lot when my boy Tyson spanked you.

So listen, let`s see if you really think he`s going to beat me. Name the price and I`ll match it.`
