Jake Paul Sends Classy Message to Ben Askren After Chavez Jr. Fight

Jake Paul extended a considerate message to his former boxing opponent, Ben Askren.

Askren, age 40, who was defeated by knockout by the YouTuber turned boxer in 2021, has recently been hospitalized.

The former MMA fighter has required medical treatment for several weeks due to severe pneumonia complications.

He is on the waiting list for a necessary lung transplant and is battling his illness with the support of his wife, Amy.

Paul, 28, secured a unanimous decision victory against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in California on Saturday night.

Paul dominated the match, winning nine out of ten rounds on the judges` scorecards.

However, it was after the fight that Paul shared his thoughtful message for his past opponent.

Paul appealed to his fans to donate towards Askren`s medical expenses, citing the high cost of the required procedure.

This appeal followed confirmation that Askren`s insurance would not cover the lung transplant surgery.

Askren`s family has established a non-profit fundraising page on Help Hope Live to gather contributions for the costs.

Paul also pledged to make a significant donation himself, together with his brother Logan Paul.

He stated, “Please send prayers for Ben Askren and his family.”

He added, “We all need to support him. I encourage everyone to donate.”

Earlier, before his fight with Chavez Jr., Paul had also commented on Askren`s health struggle.

At that time, he emphasized his willingness to provide assistance to Askren`s family if required.

He previously said, “My thoughts are with him. I feel for his family; I can`t imagine their situation.”

He continued, “I sincerely hope he recovers, as life is much more than just fighting or careers.”

And concluded, “I wish him all the best, and I`m available if they need any help.”
