UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones recently shared his strong opinion on who he considers the most overrated fighter in the organization.
Widely recognized as one of the greatest mixed martial artists of all time, Jones has had a legendary career. While a highly anticipated fight against interim heavyweight titleholder Tom Aspinall could potentially happen in 2025, Jones recently turned his attention to criticizing a fighter who is currently on a three-fight losing streak during a recent interview.
Jon Jones Names the Most Overrated UFC Fighter
Former interim welterweight champion Colby Covington is arguably one of MMA’s most controversial figures. Known for his provocative trash talk, ‘Chaos’ has earned the ire of many of his fellow fighters.
Jon Jones holds such a strong dislike for Covington that he refused to even say his name when asked to identify the UFC`s most overrated fighter.
“Overrated UFC fighter? That’s funny,” Jones commented.
“I could say his name but it’s really just because I don’t like him.”
“Saying his name gives him clout, which I also don’t wanna do.”
“His initials are ‘CC’, and he’s a total d——–.”
“If you watch the sport, I think people will know who I’m talking about.”
What’s Next for Jon Jones?
Fans have expressed frustration over the delayed potential matchup between Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall. A petition calling for Jones to be stripped of his heavyweight title has reportedly gathered over 100,000 signatures.
In a recent update on his career, Jones hinted at possibilities for competition that might be outside the standard UFC fight structure.
“You know, I don’t know what life holds as far as fighting and competing,” he stated.
“I do feel like I will be a lifelong martial artist, whether I’m coaching others or taking exhibition matches.”
“There’s a lot of great competition in the UFC, [but] I do view myself as more than a fighter. Being in my position, I feel like I have a lot more options than a lot of the other fighters as far as the ability to leave and return, and things like that.”
