Jorge Masvidal Sends Heartfelt Message to Ben Askren After Successful Double Lung Transplant

Former UFC fighter Ben Askren has received widespread support following a successful double lung transplant, which came after a prolonged health struggle.

His health issues began over a month prior when a severe staph infection led to critical complications.

The combat sports community quickly rallied around Askren, and a positive update emerged weeks later when he regained consciousness and could open his eyes.

After his fight against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, Jake Paul, who previously fought Askren, made an emotional appeal and promised a significant donation towards Askren`s necessary double lung transplant.

Jorge Masvidal Offers Support After Askren`s Surgery

Fortunately, Askren received the needed double lung transplant, and according to his wife Amy, the surgery was a success.

Just a few weeks later, Askren shared his own emotional update from his hospital bed, humorously stating he “only died four times”.

As the wrestling icon hopefully begins his recovery, messages of support continue to arrive, including praise from Dana White, who called him an “unbelievable” warrior.

Now, following Askren`s successful surgery, his former rival, Jorge Masvidal, has sent a heartfelt message of support.

In a social media video, Masvidal addressed Askren directly, acknowledging their past rivalry in the ring. He offered his blessings and expressed a desire to meet Askren upon returning to America, shake his hand, and share a prayer with him, stating it “would be amazing.”

Masvidal continued, stating confidently that Askren would pull through because he is a “f—ing warrior.” He added that Askren`s current journey is incredibly inspirational and reiterated his hope to meet him soon.

Combat Sports Community Offers Continued Support

Although the life-saving double lung transplant was successful, ‘Funky’ Askren faces a long recovery period. Thankfully, the combat sports world remains a strong source of support.

Daniel Cormier commented on Askren`s post, saying:

We love you buddy! You’re a fighter it’s why you are fighting back! Thank God we still have you.

Michael Chandler added:

Love you Ben… You have always been the toughest man I have ever been around in my entire life. Proud to call you my friend. I wouldn’t be where I am today without your belief in me.
