The ONE 172 weigh-ins, which were mostly smooth except for Superlek losing his Bantamweight Muay Thai title due to a weight miss, experienced a significant late change: the expected featherweight bout between Marat Grigorian and Shootboxing star Kaito has been called off.
This highly anticipated match, set to feature two top fighters in the division, collapsed when talks for a catchweight contest failed. Reports from Nick Atkin indicate that Kaito`s team rejected the proposed catchweight fight because Grigorian, after initially having trouble submitting a hydration sample, eventually provided one but still came in 0.75 lbs over the required weight.
