MMA fighter Kevin Lee is reportedly contemplating his career in the sport following a significant knockout defeat and the injuries he sustained at PFL 6.
Making his debut for PFL, Lee faced the highly-regarded Gadzhi Rabadanov in the main event, a bout serving as a lightweight tournament semifinal. Rabadanov, entering as a strong favorite, overwhelmed Lee with punches, leading to a brutal face-plant knockout in the first round.
In the aftermath of the loss, Lee commented on the outcome and raised questions about his ability to withstand punishment in the cage.
“I`m not a coward. At least I can say that I tried. I shot for the stars,” Lee posted on Twitter. “My legs just aren’t what they used to be. I can’t absorb shots anymore and honestly I don’t know if it will come back.”
Lee also revealed that the defeat resulted in a severe jaw injury, necessitating that his jaw be wired shut.
This recent setback continues a challenging period for Lee, who was once viewed as a fighter with tremendous potential. The “Motown Phenom” has now suffered four losses in his last six bouts, including stoppage defeats to Charles Oliveira and Rinat Fakhretdinov. His recent victories came against Diego Sanchez for Eagle FC and in a regional promotion.
Meanwhile, Gadzhi Rabadanov`s impressive win advances him to the championship final against Alfie Davis, with the ultimate winner set to receive a $500,000 prize.
