Tyson Fury Criticizes Deontay Wilder, Eyes Anthony Joshua Showdown
Following a dominant unanimous decision victory over Arslanbek Makhmudov after a sixteen-month hiatus, Tyson Fury, also known as the 'Gypsy King', wasted no time in calling out his long-time rival, Anthony Joshua. Joshua was present at ringside for the event.
While Deontay Wilder also secured a win against Derek Chisora, fueling rumors of a potential fight with Joshua, Fury expressed his strong opinion that a bout with Joshua would be far more logical. Fury stated, "Why the f** he wants to fight Wilder for? Fight the fing Gypsy King. Fk Wilder, he’s bum. I have battered him three times. Forget Wilder, he’s shockingly F*ed."
Fury aims to face Anthony Joshua in December and believes Joshua is hesitant to sign a contract. Joshua's manager, Eddie Hearn, has acknowledged the excitement for the potential fight but expressed reservations due to past failed negotiations.
Despite recovering from a serious accident in December, fans are eagerly anticipating Joshua's return to the ring, particularly for a potential rematch against Fury.
In an alternative scenario, Fury has also indicated his openness to a trilogy fight with Oleksandr Usyk, should the proposed showdown with Joshua fall through. Usyk is currently preparing for a major fight against kickboxing legend Rico Verhoeven on May 23rd.
"If AJ don’t want it, let’s get Usyk in the trilogy. But I need some f***ing fair play," Fury commented after his recent victory.
Fury anticipates that a fight against Anthony Joshua would be a massive event, filling large arenas and attracting an estimated one hundred million viewers globally. The boxing world awaits Joshua's decision regarding his comeback fight later this year.
