Michael Chandler is eagerly looking forward to a potential high-stakes encounter, specifically against Conor McGregor. The Irish superstar has already stated his intention to face Chandler at a rumored UFC event at the White House in 2026.
The two athletes were previously slated to compete at UFC 303 last year. However, McGregor`s withdrawal due to an injury sidelined the much-anticipated bout. Despite this, McGregor has maintained that his comeback fight for the White House event is already confirmed.

Chandler`s Perspective on Waiting for McGregor at the White House
While Conor McGregor`s broader UFC career future remains uncertain, he appears steadfast in his desire to compete at the White House. Chandler himself expressed confidence last month that this long-awaited matchup would finally materialize at the event.
In a recent interview, the former lightweight title challenger provided an update on the proposed fight and his willingness to wait until the 2026 White House event for his return.
“We have some history,” Chandler stated. “I’m the opponent that he wants. He’s the opponent that I want. And it would be one heck of an event if it happened.”
When asked about his remaining career ambitions, Chandler again pointed towards 2026, suggesting he is likely to remain inactive until then.
“I’ve got plenty left in the tank and obviously there are some big fights coming up next year that I’d love to participate in.”

Michael Chandler Utilizes Downtime for Other Ventures Alongside Training
Michael Chandler has drawn some criticism in recent years for prioritizing a fight with Conor McGregor, which has resulted in a significant pause in his active fighting career.
During a discussion on a recent JRE MMA Show episode, Joe Rogan commented on Chandler`s incredible durability in his past intense fights and how he has managed to prolong his time in the sport.
“Chandler is still remarkably durable, but that’s just a discipline thing and a hard work thing… But, he’s 38 now.”
Despite his rigorous training schedule, Chandler also highlighted how this period of waiting has opened doors for him to explore other business opportunities.
Notably, “Iron” Mike recently announced a partnership with Phorm Energy, an energy drink brand that received investment from Dana White earlier this year.
“Phorm Energy is a brand that stands for grit, peak performance, and the relentless pursuit of pushing beyond limits – values I live by every day,” Chandler commented. “I’m pumped to team up with Phorm Energy and bring fans along for the ride as we create something powerful together. This partnership isn’t just about energy – it’s about inspiring people to unlock their full potential.”
