Mike Perry on Nate Diaz Fight: “Biggest Payday of My Career”

On Monday, Most Valuable Promotions announced the upcoming bout between Mike Perry, Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship’s “King of Violence” titleholder, and Nate Diaz, creator of the legendary UFC “Baddest Motherf**ker” belt. This fight will be part of a grand event, culminating in the clash between Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano.

Although officially announced just a few days ago, the promotion had been working on organizing this fight for many months.

“We’ve been working on this for a while. You might have seen my little ‘teasers’ on social media, where I was training and practicing MMA moves. There were discussions. Names changed. I think once the ‘White House card’ (presumably a major event) was announced, everything came together… People are really looking forward to this fight; some even call it ‘the people’s main event’,” Perry shared on The Ariel Helwani Show.

“It’s going to be an exciting fight, no doubt. I’m training hard. I’m filled with anticipation, a desire to show my best in this fight, and I’m eagerly awaiting the chance to demonstrate it to the fans.”

Perry is set to compete in the first-ever mixed martial arts event streamed on Netflix, which will secure him an audience larger than any of his previous fights. Additionally, he will receive the highest purse of his nearly 22-year career in combat sports.

When asked if this fight would be the highest-paying of his career, Perry answered without hesitation: “Yes, absolutely.”

“The next fight is always the best one. And this is it. I’ve said it before, and it’s true. I swear I’ve been saying that for 20 years,” he continued. “I’m grateful to Nate for helping me secure this matchup. We’re going to clash, and that’s great; it’s a reward for all the hard work in my career.”

With the contracts signed, Perry can rest easy: the fight is definitely happening. Nate Diaz always shows up.

“You know, Nate Diaz and his crew never pull out of fights. So, this is a guaranteed event because I don’t back out either. We’ll be there on May 16th, guys. An MMA fight. I’m aiming to inflict serious damage,” Perry stated.
