Mike Tyson: My Fight Earnings Outpace Top UFC Stars Combined

Mike Tyson, the legendary heavyweight boxer, has firmly stated he will never consider a career in mixed martial arts (MMA). Despite his close friendship with UFC President Dana White and his frequent presence in the front row at UFC events, `Iron Mike` has consistently dismissed any notion of stepping into the octagon.

Even during his prime, the 59-year-old would have faced significant challenges against elite grapplers, but Tyson clarifies that his lack of interest in fighting for the UFC isn`t rooted in a fear of losing. Instead, his decision boils down to financial considerations.

Why Mike Tyson Prefers Boxing Over UFC

Tyson contends that MMA fighters simply do not earn enough money to entice him. While prominent figures like former dual-weight champion Conor McGregor boast a net worth of $200 million, a substantial portion of his wealth was accumulated through boxing matches and business ventures outside the UFC. Other UFC stars who have earned millions, such as Khabib Nurmagomedov, Ronda Rousey, Jon Jones, and Georges St-Pierre, still fall short in comparison to Tyson`s boxing earnings, according to the boxing icon.

Tyson claims that he earned more from a single boxing match than the combined paychecks of all five of these top UFC fighters. When questioned about a potential move to MMA, his response was a definitive “No.”

“Listen, five of the biggest UFC fighters combined couldn’t match my pay. I want to be the biggest fighter, the biggest purse. I want all that stuff. When Mike Tyson fights, he shuts everything down.”

Mike Tyson`s Recent and Upcoming Bouts

After a two-decade hiatus, Mike Tyson returned to the ring in November 2024 to face Jake Paul. Although he lost the decision, the fight proved incredibly lucrative, with Tyson reportedly pocketing a $20 million purse. He celebrated this substantial earning by purchasing a $13 million mansion in Delray Beach, Florida.

Looking ahead, Tyson is set for another massive payday in 2026, when he will participate in an exhibition bout against fellow boxing legend Floyd Mayweather. The specific date and location for this highly anticipated clash of boxing titans are yet to be announced.
