Misfits 21 Main Event: Darren Till Faces Darren Stewart

Darren Till is returning to the boxing ring this weekend following his victory over Anthony Taylor earlier this year.

The rescheduled Misfits 21 card features a main event pitting two fighters named Darren against each other: Till and Stewart.

The former UFC competitor, Darren Till, will face Darren Stewart at Vaillant Live in Derby.

Till was originally scheduled to make his Misfits debut against Tommy Fury in late January, but Fury withdrew from the bout.

Till departed the UFC in 2023 with no plans to return, shifting his focus to a boxing career. He will now compete against MMA specialist Darren Stewart.

Stewart retired from MMA in August 2024, mentioning financial struggles, and later worked on a train line. However, he sees boxing as a “second chance.”

The fight is set to be contested at cruiserweight. Till described his previous victory simply as “just another day at the office.”

Speaking to The Independent, Till stated, “It was good to be back on the big stage, especially the Misfits stage. I`m a misfit, aren`t I? I have been my whole life, in the UFC, on social media. I`m probably the only real misfit; the only difference with me is I can actually fight, while all these others can`t fight.”

Till also mentioned that he had predicted Tommy Fury, who recently returned to the ring with a win in Hungary, would withdraw from their planned fight.

Till recounted, “I told my coach after the press conference, `He`ll pull out of the fight.` My coach suggested, `Make sure you make it public.` And I replied, `I don`t want to give it any energy.` Then one day, I came into the gym, and he started shouting online about how he`d pulled out.”

Till continued his comments on Fury, saying, “I don`t think the Furys have been seen since, so everyone in boxing should thank me, because you were all terrorized by the Furys for years. Then I came along and absolutely terrorized him. Now, every time any boxer sees me, they want to shake my hand. Everyone was sick of them.”

“People give Tommy more grief than I do,” Till added. “I have nothing negative to say about his personal life. I don`t know Tommy, so I couldn`t comment on his character or anything like that.”

Pre-Fight Comments

At Wednesday`s press conference, Till commented, “There`s a lot of respect between me and Darren [Stewart]. We`ve competed on two shows together. Darren is a good guy.”

“He`s a solid competitor. I know he can fight, and I know he`s got a lot of heart. I don`t have much more to say. I`ll be there on Friday.”

He also noted, “I think many people confuse respect and disrespect. A lot of people expected me to be aggressive [after the Tommy fight], but that`s not my approach.”

“You`ve all known me for years now. I am one of the best strikers in the world, and as always, I`m coming for violence on Friday,” Till concluded. “It`s going to be a fantastic show.”

Stewart responded, “I know he`s going to bring it. I`m going to bring it too. This is the place to show it, and I`m thankful for the opportunity. I`m here to entertain, and that`s what I do.”
