Dustin Poirier`s recent social media activity has reached its intended target.
Poirier had previously confirmed he is still adjusting to life after retirement, following his final appearance in the Octagon at UFC 318 earlier this year.
“The Diamond” concluded his illustrious career by competing before his loyal Louisiana fanbase for the last time.
However, Poirier recently hinted at a specific fight that could tempt him out of retirement, and this suggestion has now elicited a direct response.

Nate Diaz Asserts Dustin Poirier “Isn`t Allowed” to Face Him in Zuffa Boxing
On September 30, Dustin Poirier stated that a 12-round boxing match against Nate Diaz is the sole reason he would consider stepping back into the ring at this point in his career.
The two athletes were originally slated to compete in the co-main event of UFC 230 at Madison Square Garden.
When the bout fell apart, a contentious rivalry emerged between them due to disagreements surrounding the cancellation.
This unresolved tension continues today, underscored by Diaz`s remarks regarding Poirier`s retirement in the lead-up to UFC 318.
The former UFC luminary evidently took note of Poirier`s proposal for a Zuffa Boxing showdown, responding via social media.
Diaz has expressed his desire to maintain an active fighting schedule since engaging in several boxing matches following his departure from the UFC in 2022. However, he emphatically stated that this opportunity would not be extended to “The Diamond.”
“I`d beat your a** but you`re not allowed. P.S. you`re checked out already.”

Dustin Poirier Reflects on Unfought Nate Diaz Matchup as a Key Career Regret
Dustin Poirier`s career is marked by many cherished memories, yet among all the renowned fighters and significant names he encountered, Nate Diaz remains the opponent he never got to face.
Before his retirement, “The Diamond” frequently cited the missed opportunity to fight the former UFC star as one of his principal career regrets.
After Diaz accused him of withdrawing from their UFC 230 contest, “The Diamond” clarified in 2018 that his withdrawal was solely due to being informed that the planned fight with Diaz on that specific date was canceled.
Poirier, who would have willingly fought through injury to participate in this highly anticipated clash, clearly still harbors a desire to settle their score.
