Daniel Cormier Expresses Empathy for Jon Jones After UFC White House Event Snub: "He Seemed Crushed"
Former UFC double champion Daniel Cormier has voiced his sympathy for longtime rival Jon Jones, who was notably absent from the UFC's White House event lineup. Jones had previously requested his release from the UFC, asserting he had nothing further to contribute if the promotion felt similarly. He also challenged Dana White's statement that "Bones" was not involved in negotiations for a potential June 14 fight, labeling it as untrue.
The former two-division champion clarified on social media that he had been preparing for a fight at the White House, even undergoing stem cell treatment for his arthritis to facilitate his training. However, a "lowball offer" ultimately prevented his participation. Jones later expressed his clear frustration and anger in an Instagram live session.
Despite their famously strained and perhaps irreparable relationship, Daniel Cormier has publicly supported Jones on this matter. Commenting on the situation between Jones and the UFC regarding the White House event, Cormier stated: "I kind of felt bad for Jon because it seemed like he wanted to fight on that card bad. He seemed crushed. He’s laying in bed, and he’s crushed. I think this is kind of like a come-to-Jesus moment."
Jake Paul Extends Invitation to Jon Jones for Most Valuable Promotions
Following the recruitment of fighters like Francis Ngannou, Philipe Lins, Ronda Rousey, and Gina Carano to the Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) roster, Jake Paul has now turned his attention to Jon Jones. During a press conference after the Rousey vs. Carano event, Paul was questioned by reporters about his willingness to sign "Bones" for an MMA fight under MVP, should Jones be released from the UFC. The 29-year-old responded: "Jon, you’re always welcome to come over to MVP. We’ll get you paid what you deserve."
