Murphy lauded Volkanovski's stance, remarking, "How could you not admire that? I respect it immensely. Everyone holds Volkanovski in high regard. He's pragmatic and ranks among the greatest featherweights of all time. Looking beyond the immediate challenge, Murphy added, "My focus is entirely on this Saturday; I intend to give absolutely everything. So, I'm unsure when I'll step back into the octagon next. However, regardless of the outcome, my aspiration is to compete regularly, to remain active. After my fight with Pico, I was eager for another bout and anticipated fighting in December."

He continued, "I've been sidelined for approximately six or seven months. Honestly, at 34 years old, you want to avoid such long breaks, especially when you're healthy. For me, staying active is paramount. Therefore, I aim to return to competition by the end of summer, no matter the result."
