Poirier and Holloway Lobby for Lil Wayne to Present BMF Title at UFC 318

The BMF (Baddest Motherf—–) championship will be contested in the highly anticipated main event of UFC 318.

This Saturday, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Dustin Poirier and Max Holloway are set to conclude the longest-running trilogy in UFC history, as they face off for the coveted `Baddest Motherf—–` title.

As this bout marks Poirier`s anticipated retirement, he aims to conclude his illustrious UFC career by claiming the BMF championship. Conversely, Holloway seeks to etch his name in history as the first fighter to successfully defend the BMF title.

Last year, following Max Holloway`s impressive knockout victory over then-champion Justin Gaethje, it was former UFC heavyweight champion Mark Coleman who had the honor of wrapping the BMF belt around Holloway`s waist.

Leading up to UFC 318, commentator Daniel Cormier playfully suggested that Holloway`s wife should present the belt if Max successfully defends it.

During Thursday`s press conference, both main event fighters were asked who they envisioned presenting the BMF title, and their responses revealed a shared preference.

Dustin Poirier and Max Holloway Unanimously Choose Lil Wayne to Present BMF Belt at UFC 318

The inaugural BMF belt was famously presented by entertainment icon Dwayne `The Rock` Johnson to Jorge Masvidal at UFC 244 in 2019, following Masvidal`s victory over Nate Diaz.

Subsequently, Masvidal passed the belt to Justin Gaethje, and later, Mark Coleman bestowed it upon Holloway, continuing the unique tradition.

As he vies for the BMF title for the second time in his career, Poirier expressed his distinct wish for renowned rap icon Lil Wayne to present the belt to him inside the Octagon.

“Let Weezy do it,” Poirier proposed enthusiastically during the UFC 318 press conference.

“I`m not disagreeing with that,” Holloway promptly responded, confirming his agreement with Poirier`s choice.

Lil Wayne Confirmed to Accompany Dustin Poirier for UFC 318 Walkout

Adding to the excitement, Lil Wayne is officially slated to join Dustin Poirier for his final walk to the Octagon in New Orleans.

The Louisiana-native rapper and Poirier have cultivated a friendship over several years, with `The Diamond` even making an appearance on Lil Wayne`s podcast previously.

Poirier`s long-desired walkout vision will finally materialize as he replaces his customary James Brown entrance music with Lil Wayne`s iconic track `Drop The World`, marking a special moment for his retirement fight.

Interestingly, Michael Johnson, a former opponent of Poirier, also requested a special walkout for his own fight, which is set to take place on the UFC 318 main card.
