Regian Eersel Stripped of Lightweight Title After Win Due to Weight Miss

ONE Championship recently hosted ONE Fight Night 30 at Lumpinee Stadium, featuring a co-main event that saw Regian Eersel face Alexis Nicolas for the second time. Eersel secured a victory by outpointing the French fighter over five rounds, concluding their trilogy.

However, despite his win, Eersel did not leave the ring with the ONE Lightweight Kickboxing World Title. He was unable to keep the belt because he failed both the weight and hydration checks before the fight took place.

During the bout, Eersel established control early on, dictating the pace and landing effective combinations to Nicolas`s head and body. Nicolas attempted to counter with sharp low kicks, aiming to slow down the Surinamese champion, but Eersel maintained his composure and dominance.

Eersel further solidified his advantage in the second round. He increased his pressure and successfully knocked down Nicolas with a powerful left hook as the round concluded.

Nicolas, known as `Barboza`, came out aggressively in the third round, looking to shift the momentum. Yet, Eersel remained one step ahead, landing the more accurate and significant strikes throughout the rest of the fight.

After five intense rounds, the judges awarded Regian Eersel a majority decision victory. While this added another win to his professional record, the ONE Lightweight Kickboxing World Title remained vacant as a result of his pre-fight weigh-in failure.
