RISE FireBall Results – Beyond Kickboxing

Kazuki Osaki has claimed the inaugural RISE -53kg World title following a decisive victory. This past weekend, the highly-regarded kickboxer defeated current WBC Muay Thai champion Corey Nicholson via a fifth-round stoppage.

While Osaki`s performance was strong, Nicholson is one of several less formidable opponents Osaki has faced since his win over Jin Mandokoro nearly a year ago. Despite this, potential challengers like Ryu Hanaoka and Ryujin Nasukawa are awaiting their opportunity for a title shot. In his post-fight comments, Osaki indicated his interest in seeking new challenges within ONE Championship, following his younger brother`s move to the promotion last year.

Koki Osaki Runs Through Former RISE Champion Monguchi

Kazuki Osaki`s brother, Koki Osaki, also delivered a similarly impressive showing. He competed against former RISE Champion and top-ranked 55 kg kickboxer Keisuke Monguchi. Koki Osaki put on one of the most notable performances of his career, stopping his opponent in the second round with a fierce combination of roughly 40 punches, drawing comparisons to Gokhan Saki`s style. This dominant win firmly re-establishes Koki as the premier -55kg fighter in RISE and arguably among the world`s elite.

As K-1 is experiencing a departure of Japanese talent, both Osaki brothers now have an expanded pool of potential opponents, including names like Toma Kuroda, Ryuki Matsuda, and various 57kg fighters competing in ONE Championship.

Mei Miyamoto Upsets RISE Queen Kobayashi in Controversial Decision

In a surprising outcome, the undefeated Mei Miyamoto (5-0) secured a controversial decision victory over RISE Queen Arina Kobayashi. Kobayashi was looking to bounce back after a loss at 52 kg. Their bout proved to be a rare six-round thriller.

Despite the champion Kobayashi appearing to control the majority of the fight, an unexpected sixth round was announced after the scheduled five. The decision ultimately went to the challenger, Mei Miyamoto, who captured the RISE -49 kg title in what is widely considered the best women`s kickboxing fight of the year to date. A rematch between the two competitors appears likely, and the winner may potentially face the -46 kg champion and pound-for-pound number two, Koyuki Miyazaki.
