Roman Fury, known as the lesser-known brother of boxing stars Tommy and Tyson Fury, successfully maintained his perfect professional boxing record by securing a stoppage victory. The bout took place on the undercard of his brother Tommy`s recent ring appearance.
This heavyweight prospect, making his first competitive appearance in over a year, competed in the co-main event held at the MTK Arena in Budapest.
Roman Fury`s first fight of the year occurred during the event headlined by his brother Tommy.
Standing opposite Roman, who aimed to reach a pristine 5-0 record, was Croatian fighter Josip Pehar.
However, Fury demonstrated impressive boxing skills, ultimately achieving a technical knockout (TKO) in the fourth round. This win ensures he remains undefeated and continues his journey towards potentially challenging for a world title.
Following the confirmation of his victory, an emotional Roman Fury used the moment to send a heartfelt message to his mother.
“It felt like a great return,” he stated. “Being out for 14 months, I`m pleased with how I performed.”
“I want to dedicate this win entirely to my mother. She`s been dealing with health issues, and I love her unconditionally. Mum, this one`s for you.”
Boxing from a southpaw stance, Roman immediately took control of the ring`s center, effectively using his jab.
Fury faced off against Croatian opponent Josip Pehar.
Pehar offered very little in terms of offense, consistently moving out of range whenever Fury attempted to land a powerful left hand.
Towards the conclusion of the first round, a clean straight left landed on Pehar, visibly rocking him and forcing the Croatian onto the defensive.
Fury scored a knockdown against the Croatian with a powerful left hand just before the second round ended.
Roman maintained pressure on Pehar in the subsequent round but chose his shots more deliberately.
Just moments before the end of the second round, a significant left hook from Fury sent Pehar down to the canvas.
Pehar managed to regain his footing, but he was undoubtedly saved by the bell ending the round.
Josip Pehar spent much of the fight on the defensive.
Roman increased his pace in the third round, but Pehar frequently stalled the action by initiating clinches.
Pehar found himself on the canvas once more after absorbing a stiff jab, though it appeared he also received a push.
Pehar`s continuous holding tactics resulted in the referee deducting a point from him just before the round finished.
Roman Fury was visibly pleased with his victory, advancing his record to 5-0.
Early in the fourth round, Fury precisely landed a left hand that again sent the determined Croat to the canvas.
Remarkably, Pehar managed to stand up yet again. However, after Pehar collapsed under another barrage of forceful punches, the referee compassionately halted the contest.
Discussing a potential Anthony Joshua fight, Roman Fury expressed belief that even Tyson`s wife Paris “would come around” to the idea.
