Sergio Pettis and Raufeon Stots are set to put their friendship aside when they step into the cage for a Professional Fighters League (PFL) event.
The former Bellator bantamweight champions will compete at the PFL event on June 27th, held at Wintrust Arena in Chicago. The matchup between Pettis and Stots is designated as a showcase bout and will kick off the main card. The event also features semifinal fights for the light heavyweight and middleweight tournaments.
Pettis (23-7) aims to rebound from consecutive losses to Kyoji Horiguchi and Patchy Mix. Before this recent run, Pettis successfully defended his bantamweight title three times, first winning it from Juan Archuleta, then securing a knockout over Kyoji Horiguchi, and finally earning a decision win against Patricio Pitbull, preventing “Pitbull” from claiming a third divisional title.
He lost the title to Patchy Mix at Bellator 301, followed by a rematch loss to Horiguchi at a RIZIN event last June.
Stots (21-2) enters the bout on a two-fight winning streak, having bounced back since his championship loss to Mix. The former interim champion recently defeated Marcos Breno and longtime rival Danny Sabatello.
The June 27th PFL card will be headlined by a middleweight semifinal bout between Fabian Edwards and Josh Silveira. The co-main event features a light heavyweight semifinal between Phil Davis and Sullivan Cauley.
