UFC 318 Star Who KO’ed Dustin Poirier Asks Dana White for Special Walkout on Retirement Card

UFC 318 in New Orleans is gearing up for Dustin Poirier`s anticipated retirement fight against Max Holloway. Poirier has confirmed that the renowned rapper Lil Wayne will accompany him for his walkout to the Octagon.

However, Lil Wayne might not be the only famous musician making an appearance during a walkout at UFC 318. Michael Johnson, a veteran fighter and former opponent of Poirier, is also scheduled to compete at this event and has expressed a desire for a unique entrance.

Notably, Michael Johnson holds the distinction of being the last fighter to finish Dustin Poirier with punches. This significant moment occurred in 2016 at UFC Hidalgo, where Johnson secured a swift knockout victory in just 95 seconds.

Nearly a decade after that memorable fight, Johnson and Poirier find themselves competing on the same fight card once again. Johnson is set to face Daniel Zellhuber at UFC 318, which will mark Johnson`s 31st professional fight in the UFC.

Coming off consecutive victories over Ottman Azaitar and Darrius Flowers, Johnson took to social media platform X to pose a question to UFC President Dana White and Louisiana rapper Boosie Badazz.

Johnson publicly asked: “So if @DustinPoirier gets @LilTunechi to walk him out, @BOOSIEOFFICIAL you busy July 19th for @ufc 318?”

He followed up with a direct plea to the UFC boss: “Let’s SET my walk out OFF! @danawhite.”

Dustin Poirier himself saw Johnson`s post and responded positively to the idea, acknowledging both rappers as “Louisiana legends.”

Michael Johnson Beat Legendary Lightweights in His Heyday

Michael Johnson earned the moniker `The Menace` throughout his career, known for his dangerous striking ability.

A former top-5 contender in the lightweight division, Johnson’s career includes impressive wins over prominent names like Edson Barboza and Tony Ferguson, the latter being Ferguson`s first loss in the UFC before his historic winning streak. His path towards title contention was significantly impacted by a grueling fight against the undefeated Khabib Nurmagomedov in 2016.

Johnson is particularly recognized for his explosive knockout power. He nearly finished Justin Gaethje in Gaethje`s exciting UFC debut in 2017 before Gaethje mounted a comeback victory.

Holding a UFC record of 15-15, Johnson will look to achieve a winning record in the promotion when he steps into the Octagon against Mexico`s Daniel Zellhuber at UFC 318.
