UFC 320 Payouts: Ankalaev and Dvalishvili Top Promotional Compliance, Alex Pereira Earns Fixed Sum

Fighters competing at UFC 320 collectively received a total of $318,500 in compensation through the promotion`s established payout system.

For Magomed Ankalaev, Saturday proved to be a challenging night as he suffered a defeat against Alex Pereira in their light heavyweight championship rematch.

In contrast to Ankalaev`s loss, another champion successfully defended his title, continuing his impressive run and solidifying his candidacy for fighter of the year.

Merab Dvalishvili showcased a dominant performance against Cory Sandhagen on October 4, securing his third successful defense of the bantamweight title.

Despite their contrasting fight outcomes, both Ankalaev and Dvalishvili, as defending champions, received the highest payouts under the UFC`s Promotional Guidelines Compliance system.

Magomed Ankalaev Surpasses Alex Pereira in UFC Promotional Compliance Earnings

The UFC`s Promotional Guidelines Compliance pay is a standardized system designed to remunerate fighters for fulfilling all their contractual obligations and conduct duties.

This system compensates athletes for activities such as media appearances and uniform requirements during fight week, with payouts structured in a tiered format.

While base compliance pay typically varies based on a fighter`s total number of UFC (or Zuffa-era WEC/Strikeforce) bouts, champions and title challengers receive a fixed, higher sum. This explains situations where, for example, Khamzat Chimaev earned less than Dricus du Plessis at UFC 319.

Number of UFC or Zuffa-era WEC and Strikeforce fights Compliance pay received
1-3 $4,000
4-5 $4,500
6-10 $6,000
11-15 $11,000
16-20 $16,000
21+ $21,000
Title challenger $32,000
Champion $42,000

The two defending champions at UFC 320 experienced starkly different outcomes, with Magomed Ankalaev notably being taunted by Alex Pereira following his first-round stoppage.

Despite his loss and failing to retain the light heavyweight title, Ankalaev`s status as a champion ensured he received a higher compliance payout than Alex `Poatan` Pereira.

Beyond the championship bouts, Khalil Rountree Jr. and Josh Emmett were among the top earners on the card, benefiting from their extensive experience of 16-20 UFC fights.

Remarkably, Emmett achieved this higher tier with his recent fight, having previously earned $11,000 earlier in the year.

The complete breakdown of UFC 320 Fighter Guidelines Compliance payouts is detailed below.

Jiri Prochazka Secured an Additional $100,000 in Post-Fight Bonuses

Naturally, the UFC`s Fighter Guidelines Compliance payout system is not the sole avenue through which athletes can earn supplementary financial rewards.

At UFC 320, the promotion awarded performance bonuses to four fighters, with Jiri Prochazka notably receiving two.

Prochazka delivered a thrilling performance, stopping Khalil Rountree in a `Fight of the Night` winning bout, for which he also received a `Performance of the Night` bonus.

The comprehensive list of bonus recipients is provided below:

  • Jiri Prochazka and Khalil Rountree Jr. – Fight of the Night
  • Alex Pereira – Performance of the Night for TKO win over Magomed Ankalaev in the first round
  • Jiri Prochazka – Performance of the Night for KO win over Khalil Rountree Jr. in the third round
  • Joe Pyfer – Performance of the Night for submitting Abus Magomedov in the second round
