Daniel Cormier thinks Aaron Pico is a ‘real problem’ for Alexander Volkanovski and other featherweights
Former two-division UFC champion Daniel Cormier has expressed his belief that Aaron Pico is a formidable contender and a significant threat to the reigning UFC featherweight champion, Alexander Volkanovski, as well as the rest of the division. Cormier highlighted Pico's impressive skillset and potential for growth, suggesting he could shake up the featherweight landscape.
During a recent appearance on his show, Cormier elaborated on why he sees Pico as a serious challenge. He pointed to Pico's explosive power, improving technique, and his ability to finish fights decisively. Cormier, who has a deep understanding of what it takes to compete at the highest level, emphasized that Pico possesses the raw talent and ferocity that could trouble even the most seasoned fighters.
The former champion specifically mentioned Volkanovski, noting that while the Australian champion has shown incredible resilience and adaptability, an in-form Pico with his dynamic striking and wrestling ability would present a unique and dangerous matchup. Cormier suggested that Pico's unorthodox style and athleticism could be difficult for Volkanovski to neutralize, potentially opening up opportunities for the rising star.
Beyond Volkanovski, Cormier believes Pico's presence makes the entire featherweight division more competitive. He suggested that other top contenders would also need to take notice of Pico's rapid development and the threat he represents to their own championship aspirations. The analyst concluded by stating that Pico is indeed a 'real problem' for anyone looking to stake their claim at the top of the featherweight division.
