Following his removal from an American Airlines flight, top UFC lightweight contender Arman Tsarukyan has humorously criticized the airline online.
Reports indicate that the Armenian fighter and two teammates were asked to deplane while en route to Philadelphia for RAF 08. The reasons cited included using his phone during takeoff, among other issues.
After this event, Tsarukyan opted for a private jet to reach Philadelphia. In a viral clip, he jokingly told Nina-Marie Daniele that she would have to perform 10 push-ups or be sent directly to American Airlines, posting this on his Instagram:
“10 push-ups or she goes to American Airlines ✈😂 @ninamariedaniele”
American Airlines released an official statement addressing the incident. The airline stated that the flight returned to the gate at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) due to passengers who did not comply with federal regulations. They emphasized that safety is their priority and that customers are expected to follow crew instructions, including remaining seated while the aircraft is taxiing.
Footage has also emerged showing Tsarukyan arguing with a flight attendant while recording a video prior to his removal.
Tsarukyan is scheduled to compete against UFC Hall of Famer Urijah Faber at Real American Freestyle this weekend.
