Charles Oliveira, the reigning UFC BMF champion, has officially signed a new eight-fight contract with the Ultimate Fighting Championship. This significant deal ensures the Brazilian fighter will remain with the promotion for at least the next four years.
The 36-year-old fighter recently captured the BMF title by defeating Max Holloway at UFC 326. Oliveira’s immediate goal is to reclaim the UFC lightweight championship, for which he is currently ranked No. 3 contender.
Oliveira’s previous bid for the vacant lightweight strap against Ilia Topuria at UFC 317 ended in a first-round knockout loss. However, he quickly rebounded with a submission victory over Mateusz Gamrot and then secured a unanimous decision win against Max Holloway in their rematch.
His coach, Diego Lima, confirmed the new eight-fight agreement in a recent interview with Ag. Fight. Lima stated, “It was a wonderful deal. There’s not a single bad thing to say; it was an incredible deal. We’ve got fights lined up until Charles is 40 years old. So for those people who were saying he was going to retire, just wait a bit longer.”
While Oliveira has expressed interest in defending his BMF title against Conor McGregor, who is anticipated to return in July, no official announcement has been made regarding his next opponent or fight.
