Conor McGregor seems to be seriously preparing for his potential return to the octagon. Despite repeated delays and a recent withdrawal from UFC 303 due to injury, McGregor has shown renewed commitment by re-entering the anti-doping testing pool and ramping up his training.
The former two-division UFC champion recently shared intense sparring photos on Instagram with a defiant caption, stating, “Legs still sharper than a guillotine. Training with the young wolves, sharpening the blade. The return is coming whether they like it or not.” This suggests he is addressing any doubts about his comeback.
Veteran MMA journalist Ariel Helwani has reported that a rematch between Conor McGregor and Max Holloway is being seriously considered for UFC 329, scheduled for July 11 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. This event is set to conclude International Fight Week.
McGregor has been inactive since breaking his leg against Dustin Poirier in July 2021. His last victory was a 40-second knockout over Donald Cerrone in January 2020.
Max Holloway, on the other hand, most recently lost his BMF title to Charles Oliveira at UFC 326. Before that, he defeated Dustin Poirier at UFC 318 in July 2025.
McGregor and Holloway first met in August 2014 at UFC Boston, where McGregor won by unanimous decision.
