UFC President Dana White has voiced his apprehension regarding the upcoming outdoor event at the White House, scheduled for June 14th on the South Lawn. While the logistical aspects of “UFC Freedom 250” appear to be settled, White is particularly concerned about a potential nuisance: flying insects.
His concerns stem from a recent dinner hosted by President Trump in the Rose Garden, where White observed a significant number of small flies. He anticipates that the lighting and heat generated by the production setup for the fights could exacerbate this issue, attracting moths and other insects. This, he believes, could be a major distraction for the fighters during their bouts.
White admitted his general aversion to hosting fights outdoors due to such environmental factors. To mitigate the problem, he has already instructed his production manager to consider installing fans, as wind can deter flying insects.
“Imagine bugs and flies getting into the fighters’ mouths and noses while they’re fighting… I told my production manager Craig, ‘Maybe we’ll put up some fans, because flies have a hard time in windy conditions,’” White stated, highlighting the need to address these “little details” for the event’s success.
