Jean Silva Weighs In on Alex Pereira’s GOAT Status

UFC featherweight contender Jean Silva has expressed admiration for former UFC two-division champion Alex Pereira, endorsing his status as one of the greatest fighters ever.

Pereira, who has already secured UFC middleweight gold and two light heavyweight titles, is now set to challenge for heavyweight supremacy. He is scheduled to face Ciryl Gane for the interim heavyweight championship on June 14. The winner is anticipated to face undisputed champion Tom Aspinall later this year in a title unification bout. This potential move could make “Poatan” the first fighter in UFC history to achieve championship status in three different divisions.

Jean Silva Highlights Alex Pereira’s Accomplishments

A post on the popular MMA social media page, The Fight Fanatic, questioned Pereira’s standing on the “greatest of all time” (GOAT) list should he defeat Gane and Aspinall. Jean Silva responded, lauding his fellow Brazilian fighter.

“Never ducked anyone, never missed weight (even in kickboxing), never pulled out, fought (while champion) 2 times at short notice, fastest 3 defenses in the UFC. And then triple champ? Hard to beat that,” Silva wrote, further emphasizing Pereira’s exceptional career with a goat emoji.

Silva himself recently secured a unanimous decision victory over Arnold Allen at UFC 324. Following this win, there were discussions about a potential fight between Silva and current two-time UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski. However, it appears Silva may have to wait for his title opportunity, as undefeated contender Movsar Evloev is next in line to challenge Volkanovski for the belt.
