Israel Adesanya Explains Stance on UFC White House Proposal: "I Won't Even Go Watch It There"

Israel Adesanya was once celebrated as one of the UFC's most prominent figures and marketable champions. Earlier in the year, Israel Adesanya had initially shown some interest in potentially participating in the UFC's proposed White House event. He mentioned that he would consider the opportunity if fans were allowed to be present, indicating his preference for a lively crowd atmosphere over fighting exclusively for VIPs. Throughout his career, Adesanya has consistently drawn energy from large audiences during his most iconic performances.

Nevertheless, just a few months later, Adesanya’s stance on the entire White House event has undergone a dramatic change. In a recent interview, the 36-year-old clarified that shifts in global circumstances have completely altered his outlook. He made it clear that he isn't even interested in watching the event live from Washington D.C.

“I was only interested because at the time, the world was different but now with the way things are, it’s not really something I’m (interested in). Yeah, I won’t even go and watch it there, I’ll watch it from the comfort of my own house in New Zealand.”

Adesanya did not specifically elaborate on what "world conditions" led to his change of mind regarding the White House card. However, his comments suggest that political or broader international situations have personally diminished the event's appeal. The event's proposed timing in June coincides with various international tensions and domestic political controversies. For Adesanya, it appears that staying home in New Zealand is a more appealing prospect than traveling halfway across the world for the spectacle.

This marked disinterest from the former champion represents a significant departure from his previous status as a top-tier attraction.
