Former IBF featherweight world champion Lee Selby has officially announced his entry into the world of bare-knuckle boxing. The Welsh fighter is slated to make his debut at BKB ‘Carnage in Cardiff’ on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at the Vindico Arena in Cardiff.
Selby, who held the IBF featherweight title from 2015 to 2018 with several successful defenses, aims to become a champion in two different combat sports. Prior to his world title reign, he also secured British, Commonwealth, and European featherweight titles between 2011 and 2014. His strategic fighting style and defensive prowess are expected to be a fascinating spectacle in the bare-knuckle format.
Lee Selby: “I’m back to show what I can do and chase another world title”
Speaking about his move to bare-knuckle boxing, Selby expressed his excitement:
“I’ve achieved everything in traditional boxing, from regional belts to five successful world title defenses. Now, I’m making my bare-knuckle debut right here in Cardiff. It’s the purest form of fighting, and I’m eager to bring my speed, skill, and experience to the Trigon. I’m back to prove myself and pursue another world title.”
BKB CEO David Tetreault commented on Selby’s addition to the roster:
“Lee Selby is a game-changer for our organization. His world championship pedigree and championship mentality make him a huge asset. We’re thrilled to see him make his bare-knuckle debut in Cardiff and compete for bare-knuckle glory alongside our growing roster of elite fighters.”
BKB founder Mike Vazquez added:
“Lee is a true champion with an incredible record. His debut in Cardiff is going to be a special event.”
This signing further highlights BKB’s strategy of bringing in experienced gloved boxers to their promotion, following the example of Paulie Malignaggi’s upcoming super welterweight world title challenge on May 16th in Manchester.
