UFC fighter Sean Strickland has voiced his strong disapproval of UFC CEO Dana White’s seemingly unbothered response to a recent shooting incident at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner (WHCD). While many in the MMA community found White’s comments insensitive, Strickland stated that he wasn’t surprised by White’s reaction, characterizing him as a “narcissistic sociopath” who likely thrives on such high-stakes situations.
The incident occurred last Saturday at the WHCD in Washington, D.C., when an armed individual breached security and engaged in a gunfire exchange with Secret Service agents. Although no one was killed, the event caused widespread panic among the attendees, including government officials and journalists.
In the aftermath, White described the chaotic scene to USA Today as “f*cking awesome,” expressing that he “took every minute of it in.” This unusual demeanor and his choice of words drew significant criticism.
However, Strickland, speaking at a media scrum for UFC 328, suggested that White’s reaction is indicative of his personality. “I’m sure Dana White is a sociopath,” Strickland stated. “At that level of what he’s accomplished, the kind of sh*t he deals with, I’m sure he’s a super narcissistic sociopath. So for him, the lizard brain doesn’t kind of compute. So he’s like, ‘Fu*k it, bring it on, dude. Let’s go, motherfu*ker.’ Which I respect.”
Strickland further elaborated, “I think Dana White would love to watch a motherfu*ker get killed. He’s a sick fu*k, a hundred percent. I mean, c’mon. Do we not think that about Dana White? The guy’s probably a sociopath – or I would even say a psychopath.”
Strickland is preparing for his upcoming bout in the main event of UFC 328 on May 9th, where he is set to challenge middleweight champion Khamzat Chimaev. Strickland enters this fight with a 17-7 UFC record, having recently secured a stoppage victory over Anthony Hernandez.
