Conor McGregor, the former UFC double champion, is setting his sights on a busy fighting schedule following his highly anticipated rematch against Max Holloway in July. His manager has indicated that McGregor intends to stay active in the sport.
After a five-year hiatus, McGregor is slated to return to the Octagon as the main event headliner at UFC 329. This five-round welterweight contest marks a significant comeback. It’s reported that McGregor will likely have one fight remaining on his current contract after the Holloway fight. While details regarding a new multi-fight deal following the UFC’s Paramount agreement remain unclear, McGregor himself has expressed satisfaction with a lucrative offer from the UFC, stating he feels more motivated than ever.
McGregor recently commented on the Holloway rematch, saying, “I’ve got a great deal off the UFC. They honored me, finally.”
Manager Confident McGregor Will Remain Active
Conor McGregor’s manager, Audie Attar, firmly believes that “The Notorious” aims to maintain a consistent presence in the fighting arena after his UFC 329 appearance. Attar expressed to MMA Junkie that McGregor is looking to be active and that this marks a “new season.” He emphasized that the promotion will not be waiting a year for McGregor’s next fight after Holloway, stating, “The next fight [after Holloway], we’re not gonna wait a year. That’s for sure.”
Should McGregor make a strong return, several compelling matchups await. Ilia Topuria has publicly expressed interest in facing McGregor. Michael Chandler also remains hopeful for a fight against the Irish star. Furthermore, a potential blockbuster showdown between McGregor and Islam Makhachev, if facilitated by UFC leadership, could be one of the most significant fights in MMA history.
