Dillon Danis, a close friend and former training partner of Conor McGregor, has shared his strong opinions on McGregor’s upcoming UFC comeback fight against Max Holloway. Danis believes McGregor is exceptionally focused and well-prepared, dismissing concerns about “ring rust” as a mere mental obstacle that McGregor, known for his mental warfare skills, will easily overcome.
During a recent interview, Danis stated that McGregor is intensely dedicated to his training, living in the gym and bringing in formidable sparring partners. He emphasized that McGregor is “beyond focused” and has never seen him so dialed in, suggesting this renewed dedication is different from anything seen before.
Danis further elaborated on McGregor’s physical condition, noting that his conditioning appears excellent, especially at the 170-pound weight class, which he believes will be advantageous for the Irishman. He confidently predicted that McGregor would “clean up” Max Holloway, dismissing the idea of ring rust as a mental hurdle that McGregor is well-equipped to conquer.
Looking ahead, Danis speculated that McGregor will decisively defeat Holloway, potentially by knockout within the second or third round. Following this anticipated victory, Danis claimed McGregor’s next target would be the lightweight champion, Islam Makhachev, whom Danis expressed a strong dislike for.
Danis suggested that McGregor’s return could lead to a significant clash with Makhachev, predicting the fight wouldn’t last long. He believes McGregor’s old form is returning and that Holloway will be “hurt really badly.”
The idea of a McGregor vs. Makhachev bout has been discussed previously. Last year, McGregor expressed interest in fighting Makhachev after the latter secured his two-division championship status. McGregor is reportedly aiming for a “triple crown,” which would mean achieving glory in a third weight division.
