Conor McGregor Criticizes Max Holloway's Mercy in UFC 329 Fight Stoppage
Conor McGregor voiced his disapproval of Max Holloway's actions during their UFC 329 main event, specifically his reaction to McGregor sustaining a serious leg injury. McGregor's comeback fight, planned after a four-year hiatus, ended abruptly in July. He landed awkwardly after a jumping kick attempt. Despite McGregor's attempt to continue, Holloway signaled to referee Mike Beltran that something was wrong.
The fight was stopped shortly after one minute, with McGregor clearly incapacitated. Speaking on the MAC Energy YouTube channel to Robert O’Neill, McGregor stated that Holloway's killer instinct should have prevailed, urging him to "Finish the f*cking fight." McGregor felt Holloway should not have been the one calling for the stoppage, especially so early in the bout.
McGregor reiterated his ambition to achieve the greatest comeback in MMA history upon his return. "It's all good. It's all good. We do our work, we stay on the track, and we get retribution," he said. "I yearn for retribution. It drives me on. I have this journey. I have this task ahead of me. I have the title of the greatest comeback in sports history."
McGregor is anticipated to be out of action until at least summer 2027. His next fight will be the final bout on his current UFC contract. McGregor has expressed a desire to continue his career with the UFC, his promotional home since 2013.
