During a recent livestream, Holloway questioned Makhachev's display, stating, "Why the f— does he have two belts? Aura?" He added, "It is what it is, bro. I mean, you are, but you’re not! Temporary, but you just defended one belt."
Makhachev responded to Holloway's comments on Instagram, taking a rare jab at the former BMF titleholder. He retorted, "I don’t know bro. It’s not even too heavy to hold. But you don’t understand, sorry."
Holloway, who recently achieved a swift victory over Conor McGregor at UFC 329, is reportedly expected to return to the octagon next year, with a potential trilogy fight against McGregor being discussed. While Makhachev, a former two-division champion, might feel he has a claim to two titles, Holloway appears unconvinced, especially given Makhachev vacated the lightweight title previously.
