Josh Hokit Responds to Glover Teixeira's Call for Alex Pereira Fight: 'Pure Violence'
Josh Hokit has reacted to Glover Teixeira's recent assertion that a heavyweight clash between Alex Pereira and Hokit would be the most fitting next step for Pereira. This comes after Pereira's difficult heavyweight debut loss to Ciryl Gane at UFC Freedom 250.
Despite the setback and initial thoughts of retirement due to a controversial stoppage, Pereira is determined to pursue another title in the heavyweight division. His coach and mentor, Glover Teixeira, believes that a fight with Josh Hokit, who secured a win over Derrick Lewis on the same UFC Freedom 250 card, is the ideal next move.
During an appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, Teixeira expressed his confidence in Pereira's future, stating, "I know for sure he’s going to get that belt, so he’s going to stay at heavyweight." He then directly addressed Hokit, saying, "Hokit is talking a lot of s—, let’s go over there and knock his a– out and get back to the top. And then get the rematch."
Hokit took to Twitter to voice his response to Teixeira's proposal. He laid out his conditions for accepting a fight with Pereira, tweeting, "Either give me Ciryl for the title or Alex for the BMF."
Hokit further elaborated on his fighting style and his criticism of certain opponents, adding, "Tired of watching these little crotch sniffers lay & pray & people call them the BMF/P4P. You can’t have those titles & just hold guys down without doing damage. Whoever I fight, the fans will get pure violence with a show."
