Dana White: Islam Makhachev's UFC Record May Be Unbreakable

Islam Makhachev has established a new UFC milestone for the most consecutive victories, prompting UFC President Dana White to ponder the possibility of this record ever being broken. White described Makhachev's achievement as "very impressive."

Makhachev secured his 17th consecutive win by unanimous decision against Ian Machado Garry in his inaugural welterweight title defense. This victory surpassed the previous record held by UFC Hall of Famer Anderson Silva, and many anticipate Makhachev will further extend this impressive streak.

During the UFC 330 post-fight press conference, White shared his thoughts with reporters, suggesting that Makhachev's record might stand for a very long time. "If he keeps going like he says he’s going to keep going, I mean, it might never be beaten, at least while I’m alive," White remarked. He further elaborated on Makhachev's performance, highlighting how he effectively overcame a strong and rangy opponent, emphasizing the strategic importance of weight classes.

White had previously expressed some criticism of Garry's performance at UFC 330, acknowledging Garry's talent but questioning his killer instinct in the later rounds. He also humorously admitted that Garry's respectful gestures towards the end of the fight had irked him.

Makhachev plans to return to the Octagon before the observance of Ramadan, with a potential return date in January 2027, provided he avoids any injuries. This timeline would allow him to continue building upon his remarkable winning streak.
