Ian Machado Garry, despite not securing the UFC Welterweight Championship at UFC 330, maintains a positive outlook following his unanimous decision loss to Islam Makhachev. Garry, who was competing in his first UFC title opportunity, acknowledged that the night didn't go his way but expressed pride in his performance.

"Tonight wasn’t my night," Garry stated in a video shared on his Instagram. "I feel great, I did great, Islam was just better than me tonight, and that’s OK. I want everybody who loves me and supports me and wants to see me do better, I want you to know that I’m gonna be back. I’m not disheartened by this. I’m bulletproof in my mind. I’ll be back."

The Irish fighter emphasized the significance of taking on arguably one of the greatest fighters in the sport's history. "I just fought arguably the greatest fighter we’ve ever seen in this sport – and I pushed him to the f*cking wire, and I’m so proud of myself, and I’m so proud of my team, and everything that we’ve done," he added. Garry also expressed his pride in his personal growth and stated his determination to continue his journey without being stopped.

Makhachev, the reigning champion, indicated his desire to fight again before Ramadan, leaving the exact timeline for his next appearance, whether this year or in early 2027, uncertain. Meanwhile, Garry is expected to step aside for emerging contenders such as Carlos Prates and Michael Morales. He plans to regroup with his team to strategize his path back to challenging for UFC gold.
