Alex Pereira Inks New Multi-Fight Deal Ahead of UFC White House Event
Alex Pereira, renowned for his willingness to step into the octagon on short notice, has maintained an exceptionally active schedule since his UFC debut in November 2021, averaging four fights per year.
The former middleweight titleholder and two-time light heavyweight champion has officially vacated his 205-pound belt to move up to the heavyweight division. His ambitious goal is to contend for an unprecedented third UFC championship. Pereira is set to face former interim heavyweight champion Ciryl Gane in the co-main event of UFC 250 Freedom, taking place at the White House on June 14, with an interim title on the line.
Prior to this significant event, Pereira finalized an extensive 8-fight contract with the promotion.
"Honestly, I just wanted to let go of my belt and fight heavyweight for a championship," Pereira revealed. He expressed his satisfaction with how the promotion handled his request, stating, "They took really good care of me."
Pereira further elaborated on his contentment with the new contract, extending his gratitude to Mick Maynard, Hunter Campbell, and Dana White. He emphasized that the favorable terms of the new agreement made any concerns about vacating his previous title irrelevant. "The way they gave me this last contract was so good that I let it up to them to do whatever they want. It doesn't matter," he concluded, highlighting his complete trust in the promotion.
